秋瑾的诗文和英译

一九七五年是秋瑾诞生一百周年。有一篇题为“秋瑾和她创办的《中国女报》——今年是秋瑾诞生一百周年”的纪念文章说：

曾任浙江宁波英国领事的翟理士（Giles）翻译了秋瑾两首诗，原诗为：

曙色推窗入，岚光扑面来。
行行无限意，搔首一低徊。

我欲乘风去，天涯咫尺间。
何当登帝阙，一叩九重关。

英译如下：

When through my casement dawn appears,
And early breezes stroke my check;
'Mid endless crowding hopes and fears
I bow my head, I cannot speak.

I long to mount the wind and fly——
The far horizon seems too near;
But why seek God in distant sky?
Knock, and His doors are opened here!

不过，也有人认为这两首题为《长崎晓发口占》的诗，不是秋瑾写的，而是她的友人燕斌写的。
